Langford woman helps launch missing children notification service
A Langford woman whose niece was discovered murdered after being reported missing is helping to launch a new service to assist in locating missing children.
Kimberly Proctor’s Aunt, Jo-Anne Landolt spoke in Toronto Thursday, where the announcement was made about the service, Missing Kids Alert, in which people can sign up for a network that notifies people when children go missing.
“every second counts when a child goes missing. The service will broaden the awareness of youth that are missing, using a variety of notification systems, like Facebook and Twitter. We do not want another family to go through what our family has gone through. More can be done to protect children and we need people to get involved to make this happen”
As CTV News reports under the Missing Kids Alert program, the child is not required to be in any danger, unlike an Amber Alert. Once a child goes missing, the network is notified.
